The Survivalists
The Survivalists is a unique take on the builder/survival genre set in the same universe as the Escapist games. Explore vast procedurally generated groups of islands with diverse biomes, wildlife and enemies. Craft, build and survive using an original building/crafting system. Enlist the help of the local Monkey population and have them, build, craft, explore, cook, fight and forage for you using an original and unique interaction system. Sail between islands discovering quests to complete and strangers to meet, explore and complete generated temples each filled with puzzles and combat as well as rewards. The Survivalists combines, survival, building, automation, adventures and questing to create a game unlike its contemporaries.
Responsibilities
Lead Design on the project, responsible taking the game from concept to completion, creation of the GDD, gameplay system and mechanic design as well as the design of the procedural generation. Overlooking the game as whole and all aspects of the game content and design.
Design overview, documentation and schedules.
Game system design, including elements such as combat, crafting, and building.
Generation design set up and config balancing.
Creation and design of the Monkey Mimic System which is core to the games automation aspects.
Gameplay and system balancing.
Overlooked, reviewed, signed off, and managed the design team on the project and carried the projects vision from concept to completion.
